Voyeur

The end of my degree in 2013 was based around the idea of voyeurism and the subtlety of looking at something you know you shouldn't. It is the awkwardness you feel when you are intruding on someone's personal space without them knowing, without their consent. It is the peeping tom in all of us, dying to have a quick glimpse at someone else's drama, watching love, hate, rage or just merely looking into their living rooms and into their worlds. Reality television is a great example of how we thrive off other peoples misfortunes, the public mistakes they make, their privacy stripped away as we sit at home comfortably on our sofas. Humanities instinct for exploration goes beyond science and medicine. It yearns to conquer personal relationships and judge those who put themselves in the publics firing line. Privacy is hard to come by in a world which accepts public displays of almost anything.

These photographs were taken in what seemed to be dangerous and impersonal settings such as the Red Light District, windows looking out and moments looking in.
